SUMMARY:Film Club – Jurassic World
DESCRIPTION:Once a month\, on a Tuesday afternoon\, we plan to see a film at the Odeon Cinema at the Rotunda centre in central Kingston and members can join us if you wish.  Kingston is very well served by public transport and is therefore relatively easy to reach.  The Rotunda prices have been raised\, the charge is £7.25 for Seniors and £9.15 for others. \n\n\n\n\nWe meet in the foyer by the box office about 15 minutes before the commencement of the film. You need to purchase your own ticket and can sit where you wish. After the film\, members who would like a cup of tea or coffee or light refreshment could move on to one of the Rotunda’s cafés or bars and we discuss the film together. \nThis month we are going to see “Jurassic World”\, meeting in the foyer at 2.45pm\, and the film starts at 3pm. \nThe film club is open to all members regardless of age. Initially\, we will be selecting the film and advising members ideally by email or KLS publications of title and times to meet. \nIf you require any further details or you have some questions please contact the Synagogue office.

DESCRIPTION:Continuing our interesting series of talks on Saturday mornings\, we are delighted to welcome the UK Task Force to KLS.  UK Task Force is a coalition of organisations in the UK Jewish community from a broad spectrum including Liberal Judaism\, United Synagogue\, MRJ\, the various youth movements\, UJIA\, the Board of Deputies. Its aim is to educate on the issues facing Israel’s Arab minority\, looking at gaps in the community’s knowledge. They run seminars\, tours of Israel and bring speakers over to the UK.  Sam heard them speak at the recent LJ Day of Celebration\, and booked them straight away to come and talk to KLS.  To get an idea of their work\, look at their UK Task Force. \nCome and find out more in the Library.

DESCRIPTION:Weekly 1 1/2 hour class on Thursdays 7-8.30pm\nStay sharp. Be fit. Burn 1000 calories. Look after yourself. \nRabbi and Chair discuss deep theological issues\nBe aware\, confident\, safe! Burn calories and improve fitness! \nAdult self-defence classes (Urban Krav Maga) run on most Thursdays at 7pm. \nAn additional warm up takes place at 7.30pm. \nSessions last for 90 mins. \nFirst class free – but please book in advance via the office. \nKrav Maga is great for confidence\, awareness\, exercise\, stress-relief\, fitness and self defence.  You don’t have to be fit to start but your fitness will improve.  Geared to mixed ages and abilities\, beginners welcome.  cost- £10 per session\, paid directly to the external trainer.  Please contact the KLS Office for more information or if you would like to try Krav Maga.

DESCRIPTION:Usually once or twice monthly on Tuesdays @ 8pm \nThe KLS Choir rehearses once or twice a month (and enjoy tea\, cake and chat!)\, and sings at the monthly music service on the 4th Friday of the month and at other services.  You don’t have to read music\, you don’t have to read Hebrew.  Come and try it!  Singing is a great way to meet people\, blow away life’s cobwebs\, contribute to KLS\, learn about our prayers and about Jewish music.  Interested?  Contact Sandra Webber via the KLS office.

SUMMARY:Beiteinu - Religion School
DESCRIPTION:The school uses the principles of Informal Education to teach a religious knowledge and Hebrew curriculum to over 50 pupils aged between 5-17. It also has a developing early years’ programme. \n  \nThe children have a short breaktime – bring fruit for the snack.  There is a short assembly for all children each week\, and teaching in year groups.  Music\, art and Hebrew teaching feature for children in primary school. \n  \nThe 12-13 year olds prepare for B’nei Mitzvah\, then go on to studying for a GCSE in Jewish Studies\, and then complete their Beiteinu experience in the Kabbalat Torah class.

DESCRIPTION:Doroteinu means “all our generations” and is for young and old\, and everyone in between – anyone who has not got their nose to the grindstone when we have our meetings.  We usually meet on Wednesday afternoons.  Our next meeting is on Wednesday 9th September at 2.00pm at KLS.  Geoffrey Morgan will give us anecdotes entitled “No Prime Minister” based on his work at No 10 during Margaret Thatcher’s premiership. \nPlease do come along – it costs just £2 for the talk and tea and cake afterwards.  If you need help to get here\, contact the office.
