DESCRIPTION:After the Family Service – our fundraising café.  For Chanukah we are doing something different – we’re having a Falafel Bar!  In the spirit of Ben Yehudah Street in Jerusalem\, falafel will be served in pitta bread with salad\, accompanied by delicious sauces.  We will also have that Chanuakah tradition – latkes.  Falafels will cost £3 and latkes £1.50. \nIf you yearn for our normal filled bagels (smoked salmon with or without cream cheese\, egg mayo or tuna mayo – at a cost of £2 to £2.50)\, these will be available by pre-order only by the end of Wednesday 9 December. \nCakes\, sweets and hot and cold drinks also on sale.

SUMMARY:Beiteinu - Religion School - Purim fun this week!
DESCRIPTION:The school uses the principles of Informal Education to teach a religious knowledge and Hebrew curriculum to over 50 pupils aged between 5-17. It also has a developing early years’ programme. \n  \nThe children have a short breaktime – bring fruit for the snack.  There is a short assembly for all children each week\, and teaching in year groups.  Music\, art and Hebrew teaching feature for children in primary school. \n  \nThe 12-13 year olds prepare for B’nei Mitzvah\, then go on to studying for a GCSE in Jewish Studies\, and then complete their Beiteinu experience in the Kabbalat Torah class. \n  \nThis week we are celebrating the festival of Purim.  Come dressed up as your favourite historical\, fantasy\, biblical\, movie\, theatre\, book character.  Bring traditional food for the competition – savoury or sweet Hamantaschen\, or anything special you normally cook for Purim.  Bring a food donation for the mishloach manot (literally ‘sending of portions’ of food to family\, friends\, community) to be donated to the Kingston Food Bank.  Everyone will join together for the Family Service\, and then after Kiddush\, we will be having a Purim-themed HeBrew Cafe and party. \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:2nd Tuesday of the month from 8-10pm \nAll welcome to join us for a friendly game of table tennis.  We meet monthly\, usually on the second Tuesday of the month\, at the synagogue in the NFJ Hall.  All ages and all abilities.  The club recently received a new table in celebration of Robert Markless’s tutorship of 100 Bnei Mitzvah. \nWe have two tables and play singles as well as doubles. We usually end the evening with all around the table\, when people have to keep moving around and hitting alternatively\, losing a “life” every time they lose a point. After three lives\, a person falls out. This continues until two left and they then play a best of five points singles. It can be very hectic at times\, but good fun. \nWe took part in a national tournament in 2012 and won a trophy! \nPlease contact the Synagogue Office if you would like to join us \nThe new table tennis table is “christened”!!!\n. \n
