DESCRIPTION:Doroteinu means “all our generations” and is for young and old\, and everyone in between – anyone who has not got their nose to the grindstone when we have our meetings.  We usually meet on Wednesday afternoons.  Our next meeting is on Wednesday 9th September at 2.00pm at KLS.  Geoffrey Morgan will give us anecdotes entitled “No Prime Minister” based on his work at No 10 during Margaret Thatcher’s premiership. \nPlease do come along – it costs just £2 for the talk and tea and cake afterwards.  If you need help to get here\, contact the office.

SUMMARY:Annual Picnic and Rabbi vs Chair Rounders - NEW VENUE!
DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for the annual picnic (from 12.30pm) and games (from 2 pm) in the park including rounders—or just sit and relax. \n\n\nDo join us even if you don’t play rounders (most people can’t play\, but still try\, and that includes the website editor!!). Remember to bring a picnic lunch and plenty of soft drinks.    Will the Chair be a dab hand at rounders\, or will he revert to his rugby training and tackle the Rabbi? \nLast year someone asked why we didn’t have this event in the park over the road from the Synagogue.  And we couldn’t think why!  Getting here is easier (for most)\, parking is easier\, we have toilets in the Synagogue\, we can make hot drinks if it’s a bit chilly\, we can have ice pops from the freezer\, and if\, horror of horrors\, it rains and rains\, we can play indoor rounders in the hall.  It’s a no-brainer\, so this year we will be in The Park Over The Road. \nIs she batting or catching?

SUMMARY:Beiteinu - Religion School
DESCRIPTION:The school uses the principles of Informal Education to teach a religious knowledge and Hebrew curriculum to over 50 pupils aged between 5-17. It also has a developing early years’ programme. \n  \nThe children have a short breaktime – bring fruit for the snack.  There is a short assembly for all children each week\, and teaching in year groups.  Music\, art and Hebrew teaching feature for children in primary school. \n  \nThe 12-13 year olds prepare for B’nei Mitzvah\, then go on to studying for a GCSE in Jewish Studies\, and then complete their Beiteinu experience in the Kabbalat Torah class.

DESCRIPTION:KLS is celebrating Yom HaAtzma’ut (Israeli Independence Day) with a film festival showcasing 6 Israeli films from different genre.  All films are either in English or have English sub-titles. \nFilms will be shown at 8pm on alternate Mondays\, starting on 11 May.  Popcorn and soft drinks will be available for sale.  This week’s film is “Sheerratt Ha Sirenna (Song of the Siren)”.  It has a 12 certificate.  Like a Scud missile winging towards an army base\, a singleminded young woman pursues True Love\, oblivious to the Gulf War around her in this Israeli romantic comedy\, set during 1991 in Tel Aviv.  Starring Yair Lapid and Dalit Kahan. \nDuration: 91 mins

DESCRIPTION:Music Service led by Rabbi Charley Baginsky\, Rebekka Wedell (KLS Director of Music) and the KLS Choir\, and featuring KLS members or guests who will reveal their choice of music as part of our regular Shabbat Island Discs feature\, which takes place on the fourth Friday night of each month. \nSummer Special \nThis month instead of a guest\, members of the choir and congregation (THAT’S YOU!) are invited to bring along a favourite Jewish music track.  It can be religious or secular\, and Jewish is defined however you want!  Bring it on your ‘phone\, MP3 player\, or I-pad or old fashioned CD! \nBring something to share for kiddush afterwards! \nBoth members and guests are welcome to take a turn at being a castaway and choosing the music in the coming months .
