DESCRIPTION:Monthly 1st Friday of  the month\nFRIDAY NIGHT CHAVURA SUPPER – SUMMER CREAM TEA SPECIAL \nYou are warmly invited to the last Friday night Chavura supper before the summer break. As usual we will be sharing the stories of our week\, singing together\, destressing and sharing food in a relaxing and informal Friday night service using the LJ Youth siddur\, the last service that Student Rabbi Naomi Goldman will be leading as she ends her placement at KLS.  Naomi’s informal services have been very popular\, and we are sad that this is the last one.  But we won’t be sad on the day as we are going to celebrate the British Summer with an after-dinner tea-tasting and talk by Carolynne Farrer\, who opened a teashop last year from where she sells a mixture of vintage and retro teas from small\, local and independent suppliers.  Steve and Carolynne will also be bringing scones\, jam and clotted cream. DESCRIPTION:Music Service led by Rabbi Charley Baginsky\, with our Music Director Rebekka Wedell\, and the KLS Choir\, and featuring KLS members or guests who will reveal their choice of music as part of our regular Shabbat Island Discs feature\, which takes place on the fourth Friday night of each month.  As usual in these services the “guests” will be interviewed\, and this is a great opportunity to find out more about your fellow congregants. \nBring something to share for kiddush afterwards! \nBoth members and guests can take a turn at choosing the music. DESCRIPTION:Usually once or twice monthly on Tuesdays @ 8pm \nThe KLS Choir rehearses once or twice a month (and enjoy tea\, cake and chat!)\, and sings at the monthly music service on the 4th Friday of the month and at other services.  You don’t have to read music\, you don’t have to read Hebrew.  Come and try it!  Singing is a great way to meet people\, blow away life’s cobwebs\, contribute to KLS\, learn about our prayers and about Jewish music.  Interested?  Contact Sandra Webber via the KLS office.

DESCRIPTION:An informal music service held from 11.15am to 12.30pm\, led by Rabbi Charley Baginsky with our Music Director Rebekka Wedell.  Why Shabbat Lounge?  We drag the sofas in from the Mosaic Room into the Sanctuary\, and sit around the portable Ark.  We then need you to help to drag the sofas back!  Followed by kiddush.  This month Charley and Rebekka will be joined by Andree Frieze\, updating us on the Citizens UK project\, that KLS are involved with\, to persuade local councils to house Syrian refugees. \nSee Services for more information on the type of services that we hold at KLS. \nGuests are welcome to KLS\, but please contact the office beforehand.

SUMMARY:Adult Education on a Saturday - UK Task Force
DESCRIPTION:Continuing our interesting series of talks on Saturday mornings\, we are delighted to welcome the UK Task Force to KLS.  UK Task Force is a coalition of organisations in the UK Jewish community from a broad spectrum including Liberal Judaism\, United Synagogue\, MRJ\, the various youth movements\, UJIA\, the Board of Deputies. Its aim is to educate on the issues facing Israel’s Arab minority\, looking at gaps in the community’s knowledge. They run seminars\, tours of Israel and bring speakers over to the UK.  Sam heard them speak at the recent LJ Day of Celebration\, and booked them straight away to come and talk to KLS.  To get an idea of their work\, look at their UK Task Force. \nCome and find out more in the Library.

SUMMARY:Film Club – Jurassic World
DESCRIPTION:Once a month\, on a Tuesday afternoon\, we plan to see a film at the Odeon Cinema at the Rotunda centre in central Kingston and members can join us if you wish.  Kingston is very well served by public transport and is therefore relatively easy to reach.  The Rotunda prices have been raised\, the charge is £7.25 for Seniors and £9.15 for others. \n\n\n\n\nWe meet in the foyer by the box office about 15 minutes before the commencement of the film. You need to purchase your own ticket and can sit where you wish. After the film\, members who would like a cup of tea or coffee or light refreshment could move on to one of the Rotunda’s cafés or bars and we discuss the film together. \nThis month we are going to see “Jurassic World”\, meeting in the foyer at 2.45pm\, and the film starts at 3pm. \nThe film club is open to all members regardless of age. Initially\, we will be selecting the film and advising members ideally by email or KLS publications of title and times to meet. \nIf you require any further details or you have some questions please contact the Synagogue office.
